Mutton Mochai gravy


              Mutton                     ¼ kg

              Mochai ( fresh)                 ½ cup

              Tomato chopped             1 no

              Coriander powder            1 ½ tsp

              Chilli powder                  ¾ tsp

              Garam masala powder     ½ tsp

               Turmeric powder            1/2 tsp

              Coriander leaves               for garnish

              Required salt   

For seasoning

              Gingelly oil                     3 tbsp

              Fennel seeds                 ½ tsp

              Curry leaves                   1 sprig


              Ginger chopped               1 tbsp

              Garlic                       1 tbsp

              Small onion                   10 no

For finely grind

              Coconut grated                3 tbsp

              Cashew nut                  5 no

              Khus khus(poppy seeds)  1 tsp

              Fennel seeds                 1 tsp


  1. First cook the mochai separately and drain it well.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in  a pressure cooker add mutton pieces. Saute well.
  3. Then add ginger garlic onion paste and chopped tomato. Saute well.
  4. Then add all the powders and enough water. Mix it well.pressure cook for 5 to 6 whistles.   
  5. After pressure release add coconut paste and cooked mochai and salt. Mix it well.
  6. Once the raw smell goes add seasonings and garnish with coriander leaves.

                     Serve it with white rice and rasam.
