                                                      Kollu rasam (horse gram)


               Kollu parupu                                      1 cup

               Tomato (small)                                  2 no

               Tamarind water (thick)                    ¼ cup

               Hing                                                     ½ tsp

               Chopped coriander leaves              for garnish

               Required salt

For coarsely grind

               Pepper                                                1 tbsp

               Cumin seeds                                      1 tsp

               Green chili                                          2 no

               Garlic                                                   4 no

               Curry leaves                                       1 sprig

 For seasoning

                Oil                                                       1 tbsp

                Mustard seeds                                  1 tsp

                Dry red chili                                       3 no

                Curry leaves                                       1 sprig  



1.       First pressure cooks the dal with 3 cups of water for 8 to 10 whistles. Switch off the flame. After pressure release strain the water. keep it aside.

2.       Grind coarsely the given items. Transfer it in to the vessel. Add tamarind water, mashed tomato, chopped coriander leaves, 1 ½ cups of water, hing, 2 cups of kollu water, and salt. Mix it well. Heat it up. Boil for just 5 to 7 min or until frothy. Switch off the flame.

3.       Heat a pan with oil, once oil heats add mustard seeds. Once seeds are popped add red chili and curry leaves. switch off the flame. Add this seasoning to the rasam. Garnish with coriander leaves.

                                             Serve it with white rice.   


             Don’t waste the dal. Keep for making ketti parupu(dal dadka)
