Kara Sev



Gram flour(kadalai mavu)                       1 cup

Rice flour                                                    1 cup

Chili powder                                               1 tsp

Pepper powder                                          1 tsp

Hing (perungayam)                                    ½ tsp

Butter                                                           2 ½ tsp

Required salt


  1. In a mixing bowl add all the powders, butter and salt. Mix it well.
  2. Add little water to make a nonstick dough.
  3. Heat a kadai with oil. Take a small portion of dough, and carefully press it in the bhoondhi laddle. (shown in the picture)
  4. Deep fry till the sev turns slightly brown. Drain in the paper towel. Cool down to room temperature.

Store it in an air tight container.
