Vada curry
Ingredients
For making vadai
Chana dal 1cup soaked 2hours
Onion 1 no
Green chilli 2 no
Fennal seeds (sombu) 1 teaspoon
Ginger finely chopped 1 tsp
Coriander leaves finely chopped 2 tbsp
Curry leaves finely chopped 1 tbsp
Required salt
For making curry

Tomato puree ½ cup
Coriander powder 1 tsp
Chilli powder 1 tsp
Garam masala powder ½ tsp
Required salt
For seasoning
Oil 1 tbsp
Cinnamon 1 small
Cloves 3 no
Elachi 2 no
Brinji leaves 1 strand
Curry leaves
Method
For making vada
- First soak the white chana dal for 2 hours.
- Wash the chana and drain it well. Keep it aside.
- In a jar add ginger, fennel seeds, and chana. Grind coarsely without water.
- Put it in to a bowl.
- In a bowl add finely chopped onion, coriander, curry leaves, hing and salt. Mix it well.
- Heat oil in a kadai for deep fry.
- Make a small lemon size ball – vadai.
- Carefully put the vadai in the oil. fry till the vadai become golden and crisp.
- Drain on paper towels.
For making curry
- Heat oil in a pan add seasoning items and curry leaves and then add sliced small onion. fry for a while and then add tomato puree, coriander, chili, garam masala powder,salt and enough water. Let it boil.
- Once the raw smell goes add fried vadai. Add salt. Mix it well. let it boil for medium flame in 5 min. switch off the flame. Garnish with coriander leaves.
